MILLING WHEAT SUPPLY Richard Willows (General Director) and Stanilav Frolov (Marketing Director) visited the milling & baking facilities of Penza Khleb Product (PKP) in July to discuss the supply of milling wheat from the 2007 harvest. Jointly, the two companies are working on a pricing scheme which will allow them to share the benefits of consistent and reliable supply of quality raw materials. PKP and Heartland Farms also work together to trial new varieties for future commercial production. This year Heartland Farms have planted 7 new varieties on trial plots ranging from 40 to 80ha. PKP mill 56,000 tonnes of wheat and rye annually and the mill has been extensively renovated and now produces 250 tonnes of flour a day, 80% of which is used in their own bakeries. Although the consumption of bread is falling at 4% p.a. in The largest of the 3 PKP bakeries produces 70 tonnes a day of bread, biscuits & cake products every 24 hours, 365 days a year. |
