Planting of all cereals, oilseed rape, peas and sugar beet were completed by 3rd of May. This is 2-3 weeks earlier than previous years. Potato land is prepared and planting took place 8-14 May.

The weather continues to be favorable with warm conditions and showers later in the month.

In addition lime will be applied to 1,500ha of land brought out of derelict in 2007.

Work will commence shortly on the next block of derelict land, 3,000 - 5,000ha, for winter wheat planting in the autumn as part of the 15,000ha planned to be cropped in 2009.

Equipment.
A JCB Fastrack 3230 has been purchased for general work and specifically for harvest and planting use with the Horsch - 12 Tonne Grain Chaser Bin.

We are considering the purchase of a Edenhall Metsjo - 24 Tonne Chaser Bin for sugar beet following trials on our farm at the end of last season.
